Unearthed some sketchy/questionable acrylics from back in early covid lockdown days when I started turning more to painting … this one of a scene from J Cassavetes’ Gloria 1980 w the unique and inspiring Gena Rowlands, who died last week. It’s not a good painting! But I sort of like it. 🙂
and the combo of finding it, her death, that particular film and thinking of that weird bad time that also freed me to paint is a heady mix. So I guess I’m glad I un-earthed it 🙂 There are some beautifully composed scenes in that film- maybe I’ll give it another go…

Yes good question, I’m not sure either why I’ve done a painting of someone testing/mixing paint. Except that I liked the visuals in another 1960s instructional video… this one about Titanium touting all it’s amazing properties and industrial uses. (Made by the Titanium industry, surprise)
I of course added the splatter, as the scientist was much more careful. But I used titanium white of course so it’s a highly conceptual piece. 🤯 😄
